Gate of Xerxes 7311

To the north of the Apadana stands the Gate of Xerxes. Xerxes who built this structure, named it, "The Gateway of All Countries," for all visitors had to pass through this, on the way to the Throne Hall. The building consisted of one spacious room whose roof was supported by four stone columns. The exterior walls of the structure were made of thick mud brick.
